These resources may be checked-out by any team. The standard checkout period should be approximately 2-weeks. Teachers may make a special request for use during an extended time period for science fair projects.

List of resources available to Project ASTRO partners:

  • Up to $100 for astronomer partners to purchase classroom activity supplies

 

  • 8-inch Meade LX-200 reflecting telescope

 

  • Set of 6 Sunspotter Solar Telescopes (may request all or portion of set)

 

  • Set of Solar System Globes: (may request all or portion of set)

    • Standard versions of Mercury, Earth, Moon and Mars

    • Altitude color scale of Venus, Moon and Mars

    • Constellations Globe

 

  • Spectroscopy Demo kit:

    • Power supply carousel for gas emission tubes

    • Included gas emission tubes (Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Helium, Hydrogen, Neon)

    • R-Spec Spectrum Explorer Camera

    • Laptop for use of R-Spec display software

 

  • Solar Spectroscopy Demo

    • Instrument to view the actual solar spectrum outdoors

 

  • Thermal Infrared Cameras – set of 2

    • Demonstrate the hidden world of temperature and its relation to light.

  • Request of supervised planetarium visits

    • Choice of show from the PASS (Planetarium Activities for Successful Shows) curricula. Shows produced by the Lawrence Hall of Science.
